- Novell INTRODUCES NETWARE MESSAGING CONNECT
- Links NetWare MHS and Mainframe Messaging Systems

- Overview: Novell introduces NetWare Messaging CONNECT, a comprehensive
- connectivity solution between IBM mainframe-based messaging
- systems and LAN-based messaging systems. The new product
- preserves users' investment in IBM mainframe and SNA networks
- by tying together IBM mainframe messaging applications and
- NetWare MHS-compatible applications.

- NetWare Messaging CONNECT consists of two cooperative software
- packages: CONNECT/MVS for the IBM mainframe and CONNECT/LAN for
- the NetWare network.

- Benefits: NetWare Messaging CONNECT gives NetWare MHS (Message Handling
- Service) users extended messaging connectivity with IBM
- mainframe and midrange messaging products.

- The new product:

- ~ Allows NetWare MHS users to exchange messages and files with IBM
- OfficeVision, DISOSS (Distributed Office Support System) and PROFS
- (Professional Office System) users.

- ~ Allows NetWare MHS users to receive mainframe reports and files.

- ~ Uses existing SNA networks to route messages and files.

- ~ Uses an SNA session provided by NetWare for SAA to exchange messages and
- files between NetWare MHS users and users of messaging applications on
- IBM mainframes.

- ~ Allows laptop computer users who have NetWare MHS personal edition to
- exchange messages with IBM OfficeVision, DISOSS and PROFS users.

- Availability: NetWare Messaging CONNECT will be available in February 1992
- and can be purchased from participating Novell platinum
- resellers.

- Pricing: NetWare Messaging CONNECT is priced at $24,995 which includes
- CONNECT/MVS software for the IBM mainframe and one copy of
- CONNECT/LAN software for the NetWare network. Additional
- CONNECT/LAN software is priced at $2,495.
