  4. Novell INTRODUCES NETWARE MESSAGING CONNECT
  5. Links NetWare MHS and Mainframe Messaging Systems

  7. Overview:      Novell introduces NetWare Messaging CONNECT, a comprehensive
  8.                connectivity solution between IBM mainframe-based messaging
  9.                systems and LAN-based messaging systems.  The new product
  10.                preserves users' investment in IBM mainframe and SNA networks
  11.                by tying together IBM mainframe messaging applications and
  12.                NetWare MHS-compatible applications.

  14.                NetWare Messaging CONNECT consists of two cooperative software
  15.                packages: CONNECT/MVS for the IBM mainframe and CONNECT/LAN for
  16.                the NetWare network.
  17.  
  18. Benefits:      NetWare Messaging CONNECT gives NetWare MHS (Message Handling
  19.                Service) users extended messaging connectivity with IBM
  20.                mainframe and midrange messaging products.

  22. The new product:

  24.   ~  Allows NetWare MHS users to exchange messages and files with IBM
  25.      OfficeVision, DISOSS (Distributed Office Support System) and PROFS
  26.      (Professional Office System) users.

  28.   ~  Allows NetWare MHS users to receive mainframe reports and files.
  29.  
  30.   ~  Uses existing SNA networks to route messages and files.
  31.  
  32.   ~  Uses an SNA session provided by NetWare for SAA to exchange messages and
  33.      files between NetWare MHS users and users of messaging applications on
  34.      IBM mainframes.
  35.  
  36.   ~  Allows laptop computer users who have NetWare MHS personal edition to
  37.      exchange messages with IBM OfficeVision, DISOSS and PROFS users.

  39. Availability:  NetWare Messaging CONNECT will be available in February 1992
  40.                and can be purchased from participating Novell platinum
  41.                resellers.

  43. Pricing:       NetWare Messaging CONNECT is priced at $24,995 which includes
  44.                CONNECT/MVS software for the IBM mainframe and one copy of
  45.                CONNECT/LAN software for the NetWare network.  Additional
  46.                CONNECT/LAN software is priced at $2,495.
